How To Schedule A Post in WordPress

Have you been wondering how you can publish your post in accordance with the time zone of your users for better page views and more conversions to your affiliate offers?

Well.. well… It’s not like a ‘you must do it’ kind of thing. However, scheduling your posts have different advantages like:

  • If you live in a different time zone than your readers, then it can be a problem if the peak time is like 2 am for you. Scheduling your posts will come in handy as you need not stay awake till that time.
  • Scheduling posts also comes in handy when you are going on vacation. You can simply schedule your blog posts without worrying about writing and publishing your content while you are on holiday.
  • You can create your content at your own pace and schedule them according to your specific time and date and never be bothered or worried again about publishing your post regularly at your desired time of the day.

How Can You Schedule Your Post In WordPress?

You see, WordPress has this amazingly helpful feature of scheduling post but it can be easily missed especially if you are a beginner and is not completely aware of the functions.

After you finished creating your content and saving (update) it, on the right top of the WordPress Classic Editor page builder, just below the ‘Publish’  button, you will find the ‘Status & Visibility’ option. You will see a drop-down option with ‘Publish > Immediately’.


When you click on the ‘Immediately’ option, a calendar will open.


Select the date according to your wish. Then change the time setting on par with the peak hour of your users. This will change the ‘Publish’ button to ‘Schedule’.


All you have to do is hit the ‘Schedule’ button and your scheduled posts will be automatically published on the date and time you choose. That’s it.

Now you know how to schedule your post for a future date. Cool?

What If You Want To Unschedule Your Post?

Not a big deal. All you need to do is select the ‘Save to draft’ option.


After doing that, you are good to publish your post right away!

What If Your Scheduled Posts Missed Schedule? 

WordPress uses a system called WP Cron for running scheduled post.  If the Cron is unable to run due to any mis-configuration on your WordPress hosting server, then your scheduled posts will miss the schedule and won’t be published.

You can install WP Missed Schedule plugin from your dashboard to rectify it.
